Travel consultants work for licensed travel agents under an exclusive contract. To practice their occupation, travel consultants must have a certificate issued by the Office de la protection du consommateur.<\/span><\/p>\n

Travel consultants meet with customers, identify their needs and expectations, and inform them of the agency\u2019s products and services. They help customers choose a destination, means of transportation and accommodations, and inform them of the related costs with a view to selling travel products and services. They perform administrative tasks, including making reservations, invoicing, paying for the products purchased and preparing travel documents. They are expected to provide quality service.<\/span><\/p>\n

Travel consultants sell travel packages, cruises, theme trips (sun, culture, health, adventure, sports, ecology, etc.), business trips and tours. They also offer transportation and accommodation products and travel insurance. The range of products and services offered by travel agencies is constantly expanding.<\/span><\/p>\n

Travel consultants also inform customers about travel conditions, such as entry and exit requirements for different countries, foreign currency, exchange rates and traveller safety.<\/span><\/p>\n

Travel agency customers come in all ages and configurations, for example, couples, families and people travelling alone or in groups. They can also be employees of private sector companies or public or parapublic agencies, such as educational institutions and research centres.
